    Itinerary

    Day 1Arrive Chennai

    After clearing the Immigrations /Customs formalities, met/transferred by our representative & transfer to the Hotel.

    Day 2Chennai-Mahabalipuram

    Breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast transfer to airport to board flight to Chennai. Arrive Chennai & drive to Mahabalipuram (75 Kms/ 2 Hrs approximately) Mahabalipuram lies on the Coromandel Coast which faces the Bay of Bengal. This is an elegant place to watch which a well established sea port was during the 7th and 10th centuries of the Pallava dynasty. This was the second capital of the Pallavas who ruled Kanchipuram. Formerly, Mahabalipuram was known and called as Mahabalipuram. The former name of this place ‘Mahabalipuram’ has a history. A very rude cruel king Mahabali reined this place and in a fierce battle king Mahabali was killed by Lord Vishnu and the place was named after the dead King. Arrive Mahabalipuram & transfer to the Hotel.

    Day 3Mahabalipuram

    After check in visit the temples of Mahabalipuram, the famous Shore Temple overlooking the Bay of Bengal. The architecture is stunning %u2013 its outer sculpture work by wind, sea, rain and time while the inner shrines retain the details and is preserved as a world heritage site.

    Day 4Mahabalipuram-Pondicherry

    Breakfast at the Hotel. Leave for Pondicherry by surface (110 Kms/ 2 Hrs approximately) on the eastern side of Indian peninsula, Pondicherry is a seaside resort. But at the same time it differs very much from a typical beach resort. Tourist attractions in Pondicherry lie in its ambience. Old French style buildings, churches and museums, tree-lined boulevards along the seashore would remind you of a bygone era. The Laidback Township, pristine beach and the palm trees swaying in breeze bring a slice of serenity. The only sound you can hear is the waves crashing against the rocks and the chirping of the birds. But to cap it all, the Auroville Ashram is the biggest of all tourist attractions in Pondicherry. Just because of it, the destination of Pondicherry exudes a spiritual aura. For the weary soul, this is an ideal retreat. Any evening head for the Ashram meditate, soothe the battered psyche. It consists of four former French coastal settlements whose administration was transferred to India in 1954. Arrive Pondicherry & transfer to the Hotel. Afternoon, half day sightseeing tour visiting the Aurobindo ashram etc.

    Day 5 Pondicherry-Tanjore

    Breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast. Drive to Tanjore enroute visit Chidambaram and Darasuram. The temple town of Chidambaram greets the visitors with a beautiful temple dedicated to lord Natraja. Overnight at the Hotel.

    Day 6Tanjore

    Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning sightseeing of the Town Tanjore the ancient capital of the influential chola kings including the spectacular Brihadeshwara temple. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel.

    Day 7Tanjore - Trichy

    Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning drive to Trichy. Afternoon sightseeing of Trichy including the famous Rock temples and Srirangam Temples etc. Overnight at Hotel.

    Day 8Trichy-Madurai

    Breakfast at the Hotel and leave for Madurai by surface (142 Kms/ 4 Hrs approximately) Arrive Madurai & transfer to the Hotel. Evening at leisure.

    Day 9Madurai

    Breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast start for a sightseeing tour of Madurai. One of South India’s great temple towns, Madurai is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. Situated on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai has a rich cultural heritage passed on from the great Tamil era more than 2500 years old. Madurai was an important cultural and commercial centre even as early as 550 AD. It was the capital city for the great Pandya kings. The Pandyan King Kulasekarar built a great temple and created a lotus shaped city around the temple. On the day the city was to be named, as Lord Shiva blessed the land and its people, divine nectar (Madhu) was showered on the city from his matted locks. This city was henceforth known as Madhurapuri. Madurai is famous for Jasmine Flowers. Half day sightseeing tour of Madurai visiting the Meenakshi temple.

    Day 10Madurai-Kanyakumari

    Breakfast at the Hotel and drive to Kanya kumari ( Cape Comorin ). The southernmost land tip of India where the Arabian sea, Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal meet. Kanyakumari is an important pilgrimage center too and is famous for its beaches for sunrise and sunsets. Rest of the Day free at leisure.

    Day 11Kanyakumari - Kovalam

    Breakfast at the Hotel and drive to Kovalam (80 kms / 2 hrs approximately). Arrive Kovalam and transfer to the hotel.

    Day 12Kovalam

    Breakfast at the Hotel. Day free at leisure for independent activities.

    Day 13Depart Kovalam

    Breakfast at the Hotel and at a convenient time transfer to the Trivandrum airport to board onward flight back home.
